I have been practicing massage since 2003 when I graduated from Grant MacEwan with a 2200 hour massage diploma. I fell in love with Mana Lomi in 2011 and have been practicing it ever since.
Mana Lomi is a traditional Hawaiian massage developed by Dr. Maka’ala Yates who studied with Hawaiian elders on the Big Island. In this style of Lomi massage, nurturing and soothing strokes relax the muscles and the practitioner’s body weight is used to gradually work down to the bone. It is an extremely versatile style of massage that is effective for stress relief as well as therapeutic and deep tissue treatments.
I am honoured to have had the opportunity to take three intensive training sessions with Dr. Yates in Hawaii as well as a few workshops here in Alberta. I owe my longevity in this profession to the gentle nature of this work. I am deeply grateful to the indigenous people of Hawaii for generously sharing their traditions.
My practice is always evolving. I am continuously excited to learn more and find better ways to heal the body through touch.
Do you have extended healthcare coverage for massage?
